Services Offered

Veterinary Physiotherapy Sessions Include:

Clinical History Review

At the initial consultation, a thorough clinical history will be taken, which will also incorporate the history provided by your Veterinary Surgeon where appropriate. This includes information regarding previous injuries, home environment, exercise level, daily routine, current medication and reason for referral. This information will be used to develop a suitable treatment plan following the assessment. Clinical history will be kept up to date in subsequent sessions.

Gait Assessment

A gait assessment enables Freya to understand how each animal moves, particularly at walk, trot, whilst circling and transitions. This will require you to handle the animal. For equine assessments, this may also include lunging and ridden assessments if applicable.

Palpation

The animal’s tissues and joints to be assessed to enable the identification of pain, heat, inflammation, alterations in muscle tone and joint range of movement and imbalances.

Treatment

Following assessment, unique treatment aims and treatments will be implemented. This can include:
Manual therapies, such as:

  • Massage
  • Therapeutic stretching
  • Mobilisations

Electrotherapies, such as:

  • Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMFT)
  • INDIBA Radiofrequency (Equine Only)

A tailored exercise programme will be provided to maximise the benefit of Veterinary Physiotherapy. This will be fully explained and demonstrated during the session. This can include pole work, ground work, stretches and ridden work.
